The requirements of Certified Fairtrade are rooted in the Fairtrade Standards.
It could occur that FLO-CERT interprets these standards. When this happens, we publish Certification Policies in order to explain the way in which Standards are interpreted.
To be sure that everybody is aware of the implications of the Fairtrade Standards we have developed Compliance Criteria for each Fairtrade Standard requirement.
Compliance Criteria are established by FLO-CERT to translate Fairtrade standard requirements and certification policies into verifiable control points that are evaluated in the certification process to determine compliance with the Fairtrade Standard.
Nonconformity with a Compliance Criteria is a non-conformity with the respective standard requirement.
Each Compliance Criteria is linked to a specific timeline indicating when it needs to be fulfilled.
A Compliance Criteria identified as major is linked to a major Fairtrade Principle and needs to be complied with at any time
